About Cole

Cole's passion for racing started at a very early age. It wasn't until just before his 10th birthday that he was able to get his racing career started. He started racing quarter midgets in March 2003 in the Sr. Novice class in Topeka, Kansas. Cole moved up to the Sr. Honda class after just five races and finished the 2003 season with a 4th place in the points championship gaining a lot of valuable experience.

Cole ran quarter midgets for the next two seasons, accumulating several heat race wins, top 5 finishes, and his first feature during the 2006 season. He also attended the Eastern Grand Nationals in Cumming Georgia that year and although he didn’t fare as well as he had hoped, he gained a lot of valuable experience.

For 2006 we decided it was time to move up from quarter midgets and chose to race a micro sprint. We located and purchased a good car and were on our way. Cole adapted quickly from pavement to dirt and won his first feature in just his 8th race. As the season continued, Cole gained more confidence and experience, despite a couple of flips and scrapes. Cole ended the season 5th in points and was the restrictor class Rookie of the Year.

In 2007 we thought one more year in the restricted class would be very beneficial. Well, as it turned out we had a great year with 4 wins and 15 top 5 finishes. One of those wins was the 1st annual Show Me Showdown at Sweet Springs Raceway. We had a great weekend and won the restrictor class championship. We also attended the 2nd annual 600 Nationals. We had a great time, had to come from the back both nights, got the hard charger award Friday night, and placed 7th in the A-main on Saturday. We ended the 2007 season 4th in points.

In 2008 we decided to step up to the A-class and had a great year. We also ran a few Non Wing races and faired very well in those as well. We were able to get 3 wins and 16 top five finishes. We gained a lot of valuable experience running both Non Wing and A-class and ended the season 5th in the A-class points.

In 2009 we decided to upgrade our chassis, motor, and class. We purchased a brand new 2009 Stallard chassis and new Yamaha R-6 motors. We also decided to move up to the Outlaw Class. We had a very successful year with 4 wins and numerous top 5 finishes. We ended the year 5th in points and earned the Open Class Rookie of the Year.

2010 and 2011 proved to be our best years yet. Cole scored 4 wins and racked up 17 top 5 finishes during the 2010 season, ending the year with a 3rd place finish in points. In 2011, Cole improved on the previous year’s performance, winning 5 races, earning 18 top 5s, and a 2nd place finish in the points after narrowly missing the championship.

Cole made the decision to take the 2012 season off in order to get a jump start on his future outside of racing, including the choice to enlist in the military as a member of the Kansas Air National Guard.

Near the end of 2012, Cole was approached by Waters Motorsports, of Marshall, Missouri, about driving their Outlaw micro sprint. Cole gladly accepted the offer and is very excited to get back behind the wheel in 2013. Cole’s goal is to have a successful year driving the 7W Waters Motorsports machine and have the opportunity to race ASCS sprint cars within the next couple years.
