Driver Profile

I started racing in 1973 at the Devils Bowl Race Track. The famous James McElreath talked me into Sprint Cars. I was a Junior Fuel Drag Racer at the time. So I did it and became Rookie of the Year in 1973. From that day forward I raced 4 nights a week Devils Bowl Speedway, Houston Sprint Car Modified Assn., Little Rock, Ar., and Jackson, Ms. In 1976 I won the Houston Modified Championship and l977. I started racing World of Outlaws in 1979 with Ted Johnson. Raced with the Outlaws for 3 years. After 1981, I put my racing career on hold to raise a family. And low and behold my son jumped in my shoes after me, Rodney Henderson that won the SST Championship in 2013. It made me very proud. So he asked me if I would like to have fun and try it again and I jumped right back in one. My first year back in 2012 I raced the entire SST Circuit in TX, OK, and La. and I think I finished last. But, old habits started coming back and more seat time and in 2014 I finished in the top 10 of the SST circuit. Now it is not quite like work, I am having a ball. So they better watch out in 2015 and the cool part is I get to race with all the professionals again.

Spending money on Race cars and a little Golf when I can get it in.
