Track Profile

History

SIR is a club-promoted racetrack that has hosted weekly microsprint racing for many years, most of which were associated with the National Modified Midget Association (NMMA), including the 2000 and 2004 NMMA Nationals. The track has since then seen some updates including the increased banking that it saw around 2007. While resurfacing the track, the widely unpopular top section of turn 4, that used to flatten out and was known for sucking cars into the wall, was fixed to be even with the banking around the rest of the track. After the disbandment of the NMMA, they continued to host races without the affiliation of any organizations except for the temporary sanctioning they held with POWRi during the 2008 season. In 2011 & 2012, they were the host of The 66 Mike Phillips Memorial. The 2013 season brought the debut of the Highbanks Hustle wing feature event. The Terry Sprague Memorial ran its 7th annual event in 2014. The SIR Highbanks were rebuilt during the off season to bring the best season yet in 2016. SIR typically runs weekly on Saturday nights from around April through sometime in October with a full set of classes.
