The SCR9 team was unlucky to be beaten last time at this venue, and Steve Caunt was determined to not let that happen again. In heat 1 Steve started from P6. The 2013 USAC Western Ignite Midget Series debuts this Saturday night at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu, Ariz. It’s the first of 11 races scheduled for the pavement portion of the 2013 calendar. Saturday’s race is the first for USAC’s Ignite Midgets at Lake Havasu in two years. Ross Rankine, USAC’s 2012 Midwest Ignite Champion, was the 2011 winner. The 2013 USAC Western Midget Series makes its pavement debut this Saturday at Madera (Calif.) Speedway after the dirt calendar opened two weeks ago in Arizona. Bryant Dawson of Phoenix, Ariz. led the final 20 laps to win Saturday night’s 30-lap USAC Western Ignite Pavement Midget opener at Havasu 95 Speedway. Dawson passed Michael Fanelli on lap 11 and led the rest of the way. Fanelli led the first 10 laps and finished second ahead of Shawn Buckley, Jarid Blondel and George Blacker.
