Believe it or not, veteran driver Ed Aikin was a rookie driver on the series trail in 2021. Aikin, the veteran of winged 360 and 410 racing, along with late model racing, started his wingless racing in the 2020 season making a handful of starts.
Aikin initially started his wingless career racing a second car for JR Berry, before purchasing that car during the 2020 season. At the completion of the 2020 season, Aikin sold that car to fellow former late model driver Blain Emery, who was also a series rookie in 2021.
Ed Aikin made 17 starts with the series during the 2021 season, with feature results leaving Ed with eleven top ten runs, with three top five runs. Ed’s best result of the 2021 season aboard his brightly colored number seven machine came at the Bridgeport Speedway in July where Ed finished on the podium in third position.
Aikin gradually built speed throughout the season in 2021, and would regularly build speed throughout the night of action on multiple occasions. This was proved on more than a couple occasions as Aikin racked up the hard charger awards throughout the season gaining speed each and every time out.
Ed was a welcome addition on the series trail for the 2021 season as multiple nights Ed could be found helping fellow drivers, and delivering parts for drivers through his Aikin Surplus Speed endeavors, and has been a big help to fellow driver Blaine Emery. Look for Aikin to be even faster on the series trail in 2021, along with Emery who has stepped his program up for a sophomore run in 2022, thanks in part to Aikin.
