Belleville, IL (11/28/2021) Wrapping up the 2021 racing season at the fan-favorite annual Turkey Bowl at Vado Speedway Park, the Lucas Oil POWRi New Mexico Motor Racing Association would see a two-day show full of excitement and on-track action aplenty with Mother Nature thwarting the trackside battles on Night One setting the stage for double the feature fun on Saturday. Racing two features in one night would find rookie-of-the-year winner Caleb Stelzig notched his second career victory in the first feature as Spencer Hill solidified his third win of the season to wrap up the 2021 season on Night Two.
Friday’s portion of the Annual Turkey Bowl at Vado Speedway Park with the Lucas Oil POWRi New Mexico Motor Racing Association would find the defending rookie of the year winner Devon Amos and current rookie of the year champion Caleb Stelzig each earn the early racing edges by grabbing heat race victories.
All set for Turkey Bowl feature racing with twenty entries lined up behind Randy Nelson and Caleb Stelzig in the front row, the NMMRA feature event would never see the green flag wave as rain showers would dampen the smooth as glass racing surface just as cars were taking to the track. Hindered by mother-nature on night one, the POWRi NMMRA would finalize their 2021 racing season the following night with double the feature racing action.
Postponed by a day due to inclement weather, the POWRi NMMRA would race their Night One feature to start Saturday’s program as outside front-row starter Caleb Stelzig would route the field to earn his second career series victory.
Racing from starting fifth, Shon Deskins would impress in a runner-up finishing effort ahead of third-place speedster Colt Treharn. Jason Howell would hold off the hard-charging effort of nineteenth starter Caleb Saiz to place fourth, leaving Saiz to round out the top-five finisher for Vado Speedway Park’s annual Turkey Bowl Night One feature of the Lucas Oil POWRi New Mexico Motor Racing Association.
Saturday’s event would find Colt Treharn and Caleb Saiz earn heat race wins with Treharn and Spencer Hill each gaining a front-row grid for the final feature event of the season. Pacing the field and launching into the initial start with twenty entries would see great elbows up racing action with thrills nearly every lap of competition.
Opening strong from and outside front-row grid would find Spencer Hill topping the speed charts and to the lead of the field as Randy Nelson attempted to run down the leading Hill from a sixth starting position. With Hill leading and Nelson running second, Robert Marfia and Jason Howell would battle intensely as Colt Treharn showed speed early only to fade in the later stages of the feature.
Spencer Hill would hold the field at bay to notch his third win of the season with the series as Nelson placed runner-up and Marfia finished third. Jason Howell and Colt Treharn would hold off the hard-charging effort of Shon Deskins with Howell fourth and Treharn rounding out the top-five finisher for the Night Two feature of the Lucas Oil POWRi New Mexico Motor Racing Association at Vado Speedway Park’s Turkey Bowl.
