JONESTOWN, Pa. (November 23, 2021) – Fresh off of his rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss will head back to work immediately, setting his destination for Queen Creek, Arizona, where the “Jonestown Jet” will drive Clayton Snow’s familiar No. 7 in Arizona Speedway’s 6th Annual Copper Classic on November 26-27.
Awarding a total winner’s share equaling $10,000, the two-day ASCS Southwest Region sprint car blockbuster will blast off with an open practice session on Wednesday, followed by back-to-back programs on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s preliminary event will award a $2,500 top prize with Saturday’s finale awarding $7,500.
“This is exciting…I can’t thank Clayton Snow enough for this opportunity,” Brock Zearfoss said, who finished ninth in the 2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series driver standings, highlighting his freshman season with a runner-up finish in the World Finals finale on November 6. “We were scheduled to have a WoO event at Arizona Speedway, but it was ultimately canceled. So, I’m excited to finally have the chance to get back there. The Copper Classic is such a storied event. Bob Ream was kind enough to give me a shot last year. It just didn’t end as planned. But I’m confident Clayton and I will have speed right out of the gate. I’m ready to see what we can do.”
A bittersweet weekend for open wheel fans, the Copper Classic doubleheader will not only close down the ASCS Southwest Region calendar, boasting what will be a stout contingent of 360c.i. sprint car competitors, but it will also end Arizona Speedway’s tenure, as the track will close permanently following the program.
“We want to add our names to the history book,” Zearfoss continued. “We have the potential, that’s for certain.”
Zearfoss will enter Copper Classic competition with a full season of World of Outlaws experience in his notebook, concluding the tour with 23 top-ten finishes, one of which the aforementioned top-five at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
