Lonnie Wheatley, TUCSON, Ariz. (November 17, 2011) – With Wednesday night’s practice session officially in the books, the 44th Annual Kronik Energy Drinks Western World Championships at Tucson’s USA Raceway is set to officially fire off with Thursday night’s Sunoco Fuels Qualifying event.
Approximately half of the field that now numbers 107, including 61 winged Lucas Oil ASCS presented by K&N Filters National Sprint Cars and 46 wingless Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region Sprint Cars, will take to the track on Thursday night with the second half tackling the 3/8-mile clay oval on Friday night’s Kronik Energy Qualifying event.
Among Thursday night’s qualifiers are both defending Western World champs, including Donny Schatz in the winged Lucas Oil Sprint Car ranks and Brady Bacon in the wingless Canyon Region portion.

The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 scheduled nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
