Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 19, 2021) – Jack Dover capped the 48th annual Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals with a top-10 run last Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Dover moved forward in both a heat race and the feature during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

“The track was too good without a lot of passing in the heat race,” he said after advancing from fifth to fourth place. “We got in line and rode around.”

That lined Dover up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“We were way too tight and didn’t have the car free enough,” he said. “We probably had the wrong gear in it, too. We tried the top, bottom, all different lines. At the end of the night we were just a ninth-place car.

“I thought the track was going to slick off more than it actually did. I tightened it up a little more from where we were in the heat race. I just missed it. I’d get to the middle of the corner and my car would get tight. I’d have to stab the brake to keep it down and it just wouldn’t work.”

The ninth-place result was his third top 10 of the season with the ASCS National Tour and his 38th top 10 overall.

Dover plans on returning to action this Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. It will mark his first time racing a 410ci sprint car at the fast track.

“We haven’t ran too hot with the Outlaws, but we’ve made some shows,” he said. “I know we can do it again on Friday. If we can run in the top 10 I’d be very pleased. I feel like Lakeside is my kind of track and suits my driving style. We’ve had some good runs there in the 360 and I think we can have a strong run in the 410 this Friday.”

Dover has his most experience in a 410 sprint car in more than a dozen years this season. He and car owners Chris and Rick Bowers earned one win, eight top fives and 12 top 10s en route to a fourth-place finish in the 410 sprint car standings at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., this year.
