YORK HAVEN, PA - Central Pennsylvania track champions will get an added safety net during November’s Sprint Showdown at BAPS Motor Speedway.
Track owner Scott Gobrecht and General Manager Kolten Gouse have made the decision to make track champions from Lincoln, Port Royal, Selinsgrove, and Williams Grove Speedway guaranteed starters in the Nov. 13 event.
If Freddie Rahmer (Lincoln), Logan Wagner (Port Royal), Danny Dietrich (Selinsgrove), and Lance Dewease (Williams Grove) struggle in their heat race or have mechanical issues, they will get a spot in the main event. The feature will pay $5,000 to the winner, with last place receiving $500 guaranteed.
“We wanted to do something different for the champions in the Central Pa. region,” Gouse said. “These guys have put a lot of time and resources into winning their respective titles, and we wanted to do something different to help them if any problems come up during their heat race that day.
“These drivers, along with all of the other competitors in Central Pa., put so much into this sport and have made 2021 a successful year. We just wanted to thank them for that.”
Pit gates open at noon on Nov. 13, with grandstands opening at 1 p.m. Racing begins at 3 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday, Nov. 14. If you can’t make it to the racetrack, you can catch the action at www.sprintcarunlimited.tv.
