September 6: Petaluma Speedway
A 3 hour jaunt down the highway is Petaluma Speedway. Only15 non wing USAC/CRA cars signed in for the Monday Night, Labor Day show. But then, who says you need a large field of cars to make the show one of wheel to wheel action for all 30 laps.
Williams opened the night at the Sonoma-Maria Fairgrounds by qualifying seventh overall out of the fifteen cars in attendance. “The Big Game Hunter” finished third in his heat race and would start on the outside of the front row in the main event.
Leading all 30-laps, “The Big Game Hunter” Austin Williams (Yorba, CA) earned his second AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car victory of the year at Petaluma Speedway. Driving the Tom and Laurie Sertich owned #92 Huntington Beach Glass and Mirror DRC, Williams scored the rare Monday night victory ahead of hard charger Chase Johnson,* who sure made the last few laps ones that saw the fans on their feet, anxiously awaiting the checkered flag." “The Pride of Garden Grove” Brody Roa 3rd, “The Demon” Damion Gardner, 4th and “The Cadillac” Cody Williams, in 5th.
