Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (Sept. 13, 2021) – Garet Williamson is riding a wave of confidence into the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial this weekend.
The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver is refreshed after taking last weekend off and rejuvenated following a pair of podium finishes the previous weekend. Next up is one of the biggest Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events in his home state as Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., hosts the spectacle this Thursday through Saturday.
“I wouldn’t say we’ve totally struggled there, but we haven’t had a good starting spot and been up front and been a contender,” he said. “The last couple of weeks we’ve shown speed and built confidence so I’m looking forward to seeing how this weekend goes.”
Williamson posted a 12th-place result during a preliminary night of the event last year before he finished 15th during the finale.
“Normally we’ve been good around the top and the bottom hasn’t been too good the last couple of years I’ve been there,” he said. “The track races really different compared to everything else. You have to be up front early so you can be there at the end.”
Williamson said his goal is to not only improve on his career-best 12th-place result at the track, he is aiming to finish much closer to the front.
“I think it’d be nice to run in the top five Saturday night if not be on the podium,” he said. “We have the car to do it and I’m confident we can be a contender.”
