Inside Line Promotions – EASTABOGA, Ala. (Sept. 9, 2021) – Derek Hagar earned two more podium finishes last weekend to give him 10 top fives this season.

Hagar placed second on Saturday during his debut at ECM Speedway in Bremen, Ala., before he posted a third-place result on Sunday at Talladega Short Track.

“I’m pleased with the weekend,” he said. “It’d have been nice to get a couple of wins, but things didn’t fall our way. Two solid podium finishes helps us get geared up for this weekend and the Hockett/McMillin Memorial coming up.”

Last weekend began on Saturday with Hagar advancing from fifth to second place during a USCS Series heat race. He then won the dash to garner the pole position for the main event.

“We had a good heat race and ran second and won the dash to start on the pole for the feature,” he said. “We led all but five laps. We got into traffic and I made the wrong move. Mark Smith got by me so we ended up running second.”

Traffic also played a role on Sunday at Talladega Short Track, where Hagar won a heat race from second and advanced from fourth to third place in the dash. That started him on the inside of the second row in the A Main.

“We were running second and had a couple of good runs on the leader,” he said. “In traffic every time I’d get beside the leader a lapped car would make a move on someone so that held me up. That’s just part of racing. Then on a late restart with low air pressure I bounced and that let Mark get by me and we ended up finishing third.

“We knew the wins weren’t going to come as easy this year as we’re trying to do the 410 stuff, but we want to capitalize on as much stuff as we can in the 360 and contend for wins as the season begins to wind down.”

Next up for Hagar is the Ralph Henson Memorial with the ASCS Mid-South Region this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
