Ramey on a Roll With Fourth Consecutive Top-10 Result

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 9, 2021) – Gunner Ramey and the Terry Doogs Racing team are enjoying a four-race top-10 streak, which is their best run of the season.

Ramey visited two familiar Missouri dirt ovals last weekend with a stop at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., on Friday for a Sprint Invaders show and Lake Ozark Speedway in on Sunday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

The weekend began on Friday with a charge from seventh to fourth place in a heat race, which earned Ramey the fifth starting spot in the night’s dash. Ramey advanced one position to end fourth, setting the No. 21 team up with good track position for the feature.

Ramey lined up fifth and spent most of the feature battling just outside the top five before a pair of late passes earned him a fourth-place result. It marked his fifth top five of the season.

“It was really hard to pass in the feature because everyone’s car was pretty even out there,” he said. “You had to pick and choose where you were going to try and make a pass.”

Ramey returned to action on Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway, where he advanced from third to second place in a heat race. That earned a spot into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 6 to line up on the outside of the third row for the A Main.

“The track was super rough and treacherous out there, so I wanted to be cautious and not junk my stuff by catching a rut,” he said. “It took a while to pass because of it, but it paid off just getting some more laps and keeping the car in one piece.”

Ramey survived with a seventh-place showing, which was his 10th top 10 of the season.

“We’ve got a fast car and now that we’re putting nights together we’re getting the finishes that we should have been getting all year,” he said. “I feel like we’ve made a lot of gains and are continuing to make gains, which definitely gives me confidence as a driver and the validation that I belong. It’s taken some weight off my shoulders.”

Ramey will race in the Ralph Henson Memorial this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., with the ASCS Mid-South Region. He finished 11th at the track in late July.
