PETERSEN MEDIA: A last minute decision has Justyn Cox and the Willie Croft Racing team heading to the Chowchilla Speedway on Saturday night for the annual Pumpkin Cup.
As the California racing season comes to a close, Cox will once again wheel the Holey Smokes BBQ/Maxim/A.R.T. machine in what will be his debut at the central California track.
Cox is eager to get back in the seat after a strong run at the Trophy Cup was squandered on the 7th lap of the Saturday night feature, as Cox made contact with a group of spun cars, and got upside down ending his night.
The weekend was looking to be great for the youngster, as he finished third on Friday night and was 6th in points heading into the finale.
Having a week to think about it, Cox is hopeful for a strong run this weekend, to leave the bitter taste of Trophy Cup 2011 behind.
“I’m excited we decided to head down to run Chowchilla this weekend,” said Cox. “I hear it’s a unique track, so I’m hoping I can make up for the wreck last weekend and get all of these guys the strong finish like they deserve.”
