OSWEGO, NY (September 1, 2021) - Five-time Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodified track champion Russ Brown, a two-time winner of the Bud Light SBS Classic 75, has filed a surprise, last-minute entry for Sunday’s 30th annual Classic.
Brown, of Belleville, has not seen action at Oswego Speedway since the 2018 season, but will return this weekend with a re-worked Ray Hedger Chassis, one he has already driven to victory lane at the Steel Palace.
“I’m pretty excited about going back to Oswego,” Brown said. “We have spent the year racing at Evans Mills with Ray (Hedger) in a Modified. We’ll be racing with an updated car and just want to come back and see if we can win another Classic. We are overdue.”
The Hall of Famer holds 19 career SBS wins at Oswego, second only to Mike Bond, and his comeback sets the stage for what will surely be an exciting battle between SBS racing’s two all-time greatest drivers.
While Bond has won eight Classics over Brown’s three to the tune of an unimaginable streak of five in a row, Brown; the original SBS track champion in 1992,, holds more overall titles, and will look to end Bond’s streak this weekend.
With entries filed by fellow former Classic Champions Andrew Schartner and Cameron Rowe, as well as 2021 track champion Dan Kapuscinski and seven more feature winners; Griffin Miller, Josh Sokolic, David LaTulip, AJ Bernys, Bryan Haynes, Brad Haynes, and Greg O’Connor, the 75-lap dance is surely going to be exciting to watch on Sunday.
