PETERSEN MEDIA: After a weekend of charging his way through two feature events, Rico Abreu hopes that experience will pay off as he heads for his first ever Trophy Cup in Tulare, CA.
After a part failure, and a driver miscue early in both features last weekend, the rookie gasser will now compete in the biggest race in California, the Trophy Cup.
The Trophy Cup is an un-sanctioned 360 race that utilizes a format that showcases driver talent and excites the fans, and its really quite simple; the more points you earn, the further back you start.
Two nights of action will lead to a 50-lap finale on Saturday with 24 of the best racers from around the country, completely inverted.
Abreu has seen Tulare a few times this year, and most recently competed in the ASCS So Cal season finale where he rebounded from an early spin, only to get collected in a wreck on the final lap.
“Tulare is by far my favorite track and I’m excited for this weekend,” said Abreu. “The theme for me as of late is to be patient, and be there at the end of the race. My guys give me an awesome car night in and night out, and now it’s on me to put a mistake free night together.”
Abreu would like to thank Abreu Vineyards, Kaeding Performance, Stadlehofer Construction, Factory Kahne Shocks, Sprint Car Innovations, Santomauro Racing Products, ButerBuilt, Swift Metal Finishing, and 7 Industries for their continued support.
ON TAP: Rico and his Abreu Vineyards team will now put their 360 back in and head for the Trophy Cup next weekend in Tulare, CA.
