Sunbury, Pennsylvania's Mark Smith won his third USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters of the 2021 season during the 3rd annual USCS Bayou State Sprint Car Nationals on Saturday night at Louisiana's Chatham Speedway.
Smith best a field of 33 winged sprint car entries after also winning his Heat race to place himself on tge K&N Filters Pole Position for the 30-lap A-Main event.
Oklahoma's Matt Covington started outside the front row. Smith won the race for the lead on lap one and never lost the point.
Covington finished where he started in tge runner-up spot followed by USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series Chamoion and 2020 USCS Rookie of the Year, Connor Leoffler from Georgetown, South Carolina in third place. The 2020 USCS MidSouth regional series Champion, Dale Howard was fourth and Max Stambaugh from Elida, Ohio completed the top five.
Sprint Car Hall of Fame member and veteran sprint car racer Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio led the next group in sixth followed by 14-year-old young gun Ryan Timms from Oklahoma City, OK in seventh. Brandon Anderson from Glenpool, OK was eight, Chris Martin from Ankeny, IA was ninth and Davie Franek from Wantage, NJ rounded out the top ten.
