Inside Line Promotions – BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (Aug. 2, 2021) – Roger Crockett plans to compete in a pair of sprint car events at Knoxville Raceway this weekend.

Crockett will tackle the 31st annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank on Thursday and Saturday at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, before switching engines prior to Sunday’s 10th annual Fatheadz Eyewear Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank.

“We’ve only run one 410 race this year,” he said. “It’d be nice to get one more night in with some laps at Knoxville. However, we have a few install jobs at Knoxville that may prevent that.”

Crockett has confidence rolling into the 360 Knoxville Nationals thanks to three top 10s in three 360ci sprint car starts at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World’ this season.

“I feel really good and I’m looking forward to going,” he said. “I’m hoping we can make a good night out of whatever is thrown at us. I feel like our main event speed is good. Our car has been really good and we’ve moved forward every night we’ve raced there in a 360. It’s honestly probably the best I’ve felt going into that race. The only other time I knew we were really, really good we ended up on the pole.”

Crockett’s best 360 Knoxville Nationals performance was in 2012 when he placed fourth during a preliminary night. He earned the most preliminary points to garner the pole position for the finale and he capped the event with a career-best fifth-place finish.

“When there’s that many good cars I think it takes a little bit of help or at least not having misfortune to be in a good spot,” he said. “I think our car has the speed to contend for the win.”

The Capitani Classic on Sunday is less about results and more about seat time in a 410 sprint car for Crockett, who placed 12th at the track in June during his lone 410 start this season.

“I just have no idea where we sit,” he said. “We’ve only run the 410 one race this year, which was the night the SRX Series was there. We qualified well, especially for when we went out. But we had some hiccups in the heat race. We just started so far back in the feature. It’d be nice to get more time in it on Sunday before the Nationals start next week.”
