by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (July 29, 2021) - The Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Car tour came to Tulsa Speedway on Friday and it was only fitting that Blake Hahn would come away with the 30-lap Sprint Week feature victory.
It was his grandfather, Emmett Hahn, that dominated racing at Tulsa Speedway at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds in the 1970’s so winning at the New Tulsa Speedway had a special meaning.
“It means a lot to have my name associated with a win at a track named Tulsa Speedway,” said Hahn. “I’ve listed to story after story of my grandfather and his dominance of the old Tulsa Speedway at the fairgrounds, so the name obviously means a lot to my family and to me to carry on the tradition of a Hahn winning at Tulsa Speedway.”
Hahn raced into third place on lap 8 behind leader 14-year old Ryan Timms and Jason Martin in second. Timms and Martin traded the lead before Martin took over on lap 13.
On lap 20 Hahn passed Timms for second then on lap 24 made contact with Martin in an attempt to get the lead as both were going for the bottom. Martin spun and Hahn jumped an infield tractor tire and continued on as the yellow waved. Hahn restarted on the front and race to his fifth victory of the season and the series points lead.
Timms finished second ahead of JJ Hickle, Dylan Westbrook and Ryan Bickett. Martin ended up 17th.
Brandon Fogle battled with Jordan Barbee in the USRA B-Mod feature but won at at the finish for his third victory of the season. Past feature winner John Potter was a close third.
The Factory Stock feature turned into a three-car battle after early leader Dalton Garrison spun out of the early lead. Preston Kuehn assumed the lead on the restart and Tyler Lacy was right on his bumper as the two raced for the top spot. Garrison worked his way up to third after restarting on the rear and challenged the two from the outside groove. With a lap to go Garrison got around Lacy and Kuehn for his fourth victory in five weeks. Kuehn and Lacy ended up second and third.
Lane Traster held off Adrien Hickman in a side-by-side finish to win the mini stock feature.
Friday night Champ / 305 Sprints and USRA Modifieds return along with Factory Stocks, Mini Stocks and Junior Mini Stocks for another addition of Friday Night Lights.
