by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (July 30, 2021) - Young Ryan Timms of Oklahoma City took the lead with two laps remaining to win the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Week feature at 81 Speedway in Wichita on Thursday.
The 14-year old won for the third time in six Sprint Week events and will be looking to get his hot streak going Friday at Tulsa Speedway.
Timms has 10 career sprint wins this season. Just four years ago Timms was racing Junior Sprints.
Washington state driver J.J. Hickle finished second after battling with Timms for the lead. Blake Hahn of Sapulpa rounded out the top 3 and moved within 25 points of series points leader Matt Covington of Glenpool coming into Friday’s’ show.
Friday’s Tulsa show will be the 7th race in 8 nights for the Sprint Week Series.
In-between sprint heats and features USRA B-Mods, Factory Stocks, Mini Stocks and Jr. Mini Stocks will be racing.
Pits open at 4 p.m. Friday, grandstands at 5 with racing getting underway at 8.
