Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 29, 2021) – Gunner Ramey’s first appearance in a winged 360ci sprint car at a pair of Arkansas ovals last weekend didn’t yield the results he aimed to capture.

The No. 21 Terry Doogs Racing driver is eager to get back behind the wheel for two races this weekend following an eighth-place finish in the B Main at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville last Friday and an 11th-place run at I-30 Speedway on Saturday.

Batesville Motor Speedway hosted the first leg of the ASCS Sprint Week with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. Ramey placed sixth in a heat race before he started and finished in the eighth position in the consolation race to narrowly miss the final transfer spot by two positions.

“Friday was kind of a wash for us,” he said. “We fought car troubles all night and I could tell during hot laps that the car wasn’t acting right. It was falling hard on the right side and I thought it was a dead torsion bar. The car wasn’t handling very good at all. It pushed like a dump truck through the corners. It turned out that we had a soft spot in the right rear shock that was causing us some issues.”

Ramey took to I-30 Speedway on Saturday and he enjoyed better results than the previous night.

The team had good pace throughout the night, finishing third in a heat race and second in a qualifier to lock into the main event. Ramey started 16th in the feature and clawed his way forward as far as the eighth position before finishing 11th.

“The track changed a ton throughout the night,” he said. “It was really juiced up early on, then it slicked off and by the end of the night it was locked-down rubber. We were able to make some passes in traffic, making our way along the bottom of the track. I felt like we had a top-10 car, but we got hung up in some traffic unfortunately.”

The Sedalia, Mo., driver is planning to return to action this Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., during a weekly series event prior to tackling a Sprint Invaders race on Sunday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo.

“This weekend it’s all about getting more laps and having a clean race,” he said. “I’d love to notch our first win at Lake Ozark Speedway. That’s our goal there. We should be able to finish in the top five at Randolph County Raceway. I ran third most of the race the last time I was there.”

Ramey has made five starts this season at Lake Ozark Speedway with a season-best finish of third on June 12. Sunday will mark his first appearance of the season at Randolph County Raceway.
