Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (July 27, 2021) – Frank Flud nearly won every time he hit the track last Saturday at Port City Raceway, where he earned a pair of feature victories to give him 21 triumphs this season.

“It was a good night and was a really good battle in both classes,” he said.

Flud won a heat race from the pole and the feature from third in the Non-Wing division.

“At one point you could have thrown a blanket over the top three between me, Jake Nail and Jake Rosario,” he said. “That was a really hard battle the whole race. I ran third for probably the first five laps and then got into second and started working on Rosario. He was running the bottom all the way around and I was running the top. We had a yellow and that forced me to change my line because he started running the top on one end and the bottom on the other. I did the same thing on the opposite ends. When I did that it let Nail in. He was able to finally clear me and get to Rosario, who went to the bottom to protect it. I stayed on the top and when we crossed the stripe I was in second. They had a yellow and I was second at the time so I restarted second. On the restart I was able to get around Rosario to take the lead with a few laps to go.”

Flud also won a thriller in the Winged ‘A’ Class division. He advanced from third to second place in a heat race before rallying from fifth to capture the main event.

“In ‘A’ Class it took me a little to get to second,” he said. “We were getting into traffic. About halfway through the race going down the backstretch the leader lane changed and caught my right front with his left rear. When he did that he missed the bottom going into turn three and let me back in. We made some contact and I was able to take the lead.”

The two victories give Flud 15 wins at the track this year.

Flud returns to action this Friday and Saturday at Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion, Ill., during the Terry Sprague Memorial. He won the outlaw non-wing event in 2018 and 2019.

“You have to go out there and treat it like it’s any other race,” he said. “We want to win and it will take a good weekend to be in contention to win on Saturday.”
