Setters Garners Three Top 10s During ASCS Frontier Region Tripleheader

Inside Line Promotions – SHERIDAN, Wyo. (July 27, 2021) – James Setters scored a trio of top-10 finishes last weekend with the ASCS Frontier Region.

Setters recorded results of seventh and eighth, respectively, at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont., before he capped the weekend with a 10th-place result during his debut at Sheridan Speedway.

“We didn’t do as good as I wanted the first couple of nights,” he said. “I was a little off and the car was a little off. But when we went to Sheridan I was running second and trying to pass Trever Kirkland when we blew a tire with six laps to go. That was our best night other than the blown tire.”

Setters advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race and from ninth to seventh place in the A Main on Friday at Big Sky Speedway.

“I didn’t choose the right line,” he said. “The bottom was preferred and I was running the top. I made some passes, but lost some spots. I think if we had run the bottom like I should have we’d have made more progress.”

A heat race win was followed by an eighth-place showing in the main event on Saturday.

“I did better with lane choice, but it was just an average night and we ran where we started,” he said.

The biggest confidence boost came on Sunday at Sheridan Speedway, where Setters rallied from fourth to second place in both a heat race and dash. That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

“It was really fun and I really like that track,” he said. “I enjoy the big tracks where you can get going fast. It went away in the main and rubbered up. I was trying to pass the leader so hard, which is why we blew the tire. I got next to him a couple of times, but I never had the run to get him down the straightaway. We ended up losing the tire at the end.”

The blown tire relegated Setters to the 10th-place result.

He will take the next couple of weeks off before heading to Electric City Speedway in Great Falls, Mont., on Aug. 13-14.

“It’ll be nice to take some rest,” he said. “I’ve gained a lot of confidence racing with some of the best guys up here. I’m looking forward to seeing how that helps me once we get back to racing.”
