Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (July 27, 2021) A trio of podium finishes to kick off the 2021 Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Week presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, Canada’s Dylan Westbrook has taken the early lead in Sprint Week standings with five more races to be contested in Oklahoma and Kansas.
Third, at Batesville on Friday night, Dylan baked that up the following night at I-30 Speedway. Surviving a wild and rough A-Feature on Sunday, the Hills Racing No. 47x crossed second to Ryan Timms on Sunday night.
“For never having seen two of the tracks we raced at, I felt really good all weekend,” stated Dylan. “The team has been here a bunch, so they gave me some good pointers.”
One of the busiest stretches of the season, the Hills Racing Team is hitting a stride at just the right time. Starting to claw back into the overall season point’s battle, Dylan stated a little bad luck at the start of the season may have set the team back, but it feels like things are starting to come together.
“We’re rolling really good right now, and hopefully, we can keep this momentum through Sprint Week and keep building. I don’t feel like we’re out; we need to get caught up.”
Currently, 200 points removed from the overall lead, down from a nearly 300-point deficit, the Sprint Week standings shows Dylan with a slim 15-point advantage over Matt Covington, who had led the Sprint Week standing until getting caught up in a crash on Sunday night.
Looking at the rest of the week, Westbrook feels good about the next five events.
“Pretty excited. Definitely looking forward to Creek since the last time we were there, I didn’t do too well, so I’d like to redeem myself there. I’ve never seen the rest of the tracks we’re going to, but the team has, so we’ll look back at the notes and go for it.”
Action picks back up Tuesday night at Creek County Speedway (Sapulpa, Okla.), with Caney Valley Speedway (Caney, Kan.) on Wednesday, July 28. Deeper into Kansas for 81-Speedway (Park City, Kan.) on Thursday, July 29, the tour is back in Oklahoma at the New Tulsa Speedway (Tulsa, Okla.) on Friday, July 30. The week wraps up on Saturday, July 31, at Outlaw Motor Speedway (Oktaha, Okla.).

Four championships as Ohsweken Speedway since 2015, Westbrook made the jump to the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in 2020, earning the Brodix National Rookie of the Year.
