Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (July 26, 2021) – Garet Williamson earned his fifth top-five finish of the season last Wednesday during a Sprint Invaders show at East Moline Speedway.
The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race at the dirt oval in East Moline, Ill., which lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.
“I think we were really good,” he said. “We just didn’t pass enough cars in our heat race to make the feature redraw. We passed a lot of cars in the feature though. Once the race started we didn’t have cautions to bunch us back up or else I think we could have passed more cars. Everyone rolled the bottom and we were on the top knocking the fence down. We were really good.”
The six positions gained was tied for the second most in the feature.
Williamson ventured to Lake Ozark Speedway on Friday for the opening night of a FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions doubleheader. He qualified 18th quickest overall and finished sixth in a heat race to lock into the main event. Williamson battled for a top 15 early before he was involved in a race-ending crash.
“I went in there to pass someone and we banged tires going into the corner,” he said. “We slid up the track and a car slid into me after we were stopped. It was just a racing deal, but it bent the frame.”
That ended the weekend early for Williamson, who is returning to action this week with five 360ci sprint car races in six days. He will run the ASCS Sprint Week races with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour on Tuesday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Wednesday at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan.; and Thursday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan. The team will then venture to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday before invading Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., on Sunday for a Sprint Invaders event.
“We’re going to some familiar tracks so hopefully we can build some momentum and confidence rolling into the 360 Knoxville Nationals,” he said.
