Blackhurst Wins at Seymour

Blackhurst Wins at Seymour

After more then 3 weeks off, the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association Outlaw Sprints returned to the Outagamie Speedway for the Outagamie County Fair. Due to Covid it has been nearly 2 years since the IRA has had the chance to race during a fair, something all the teams look forward to as nothing goes better with sprint cars then fried foods and carnival games!

Scotty Thiel set the bar in qualifying, hitting the speedway first, his lap would hold for all of qualifying as he would set quick time over series points leader Jake Blackhurst. Heat races saw Jeremy Schultz, Scotty Neitzel and Danny Schlafer pick up wins while both Thiel and Blackhurst charged from 4th to 2nd. Schlafer would back up his heat win with a win in Dash 2, and Mike Reinke picked up the Dash 1 win setting the field for the 30 lap A main.

The first third of the feature saw Danny Schlafer lead with Mike Reinke hounding him, Reinke eventually got past the Schlafer Auto Body 25 and took his turn leading but would face a challenge from the Rhine Auto 39 piloted by Jake Blackhurst. With 7 laps remaining Blackhurst moved past the Bob Hood owned 10W and into the lead. Blackhurst would lead the remaining laps and claim his first victory in nearly a year and the first for him behind the wheel of the Rhine Auto machine. The race saw lots of movement through the pack as Scotty Theil drove from 7th to 2nd at the finish, and Jordan Goldesberry rounded out the podium with a charge from 11th.

The series returns to action tonight at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam Wisconsin for the Scott Semmelmann Memorial. As always if you cannot attend live, the race will be streamed live on the Flo racing app.
