Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (July 21, 2021) – Frank Flud garnered his 19th feature triumph of the season last Saturday at Port City Raceway, where he raced in two divisions.
Flud maneuvered from third to second place in both a Winged ‘A’ Class and Non-Wing heat race to advance into the feature redraw. He started on the outside of the front row in the Winged ‘A’ Class main event.
“It was a pretty tight race,” he said. “Cody Barnes jumped out into the lead on me. It took six laps to get around him. We got into traffic and I was able to pull a little gap. Then we had a late-race yellow and he raced me for the lead. I had to change my line to keep him behind me. I was running the top all the way around and I had to move down to the bottom in turns three and four.”
Flud held on for his 13th win of the season at Port City Raceway.
He was also strong in the Non-Wing feature, rallying from fifth to a runner-up result.
“I worked my way up through the field on the bottom,” he said. “It took me a good eight to 10 laps to get to second. It was a good, hard race. I had a shot at the lead, but I wasn’t going to clear (Jake) Nail with the slide job. I tried to outrun him on the bottom. He changed his line up and took the bottom in turns one and two. By that point turns three and four was better on the top and turns one and two was better on the bottom. He changed his line to protect the bottom and we just fell in line.”
Flud and his development team will return to Port City Raceway this Saturday.
“We’re focusing on hopefully getting the development kids up front in the features and having some good runs,” he said. “And then hopefully we can click off a couple more wins. I’d love to keep adding to the accolades there.”
