PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night in Tulare, CA, Bud Kaeding performed double duty, and performed well as he scored second aboard his BZE No.29 entry in the USAC West Coast 360 race before tallying a fourth place finish in his Brian Matherly owned No.19 during the ASCS So. Cal feature.
After winning his ASCS heat race, Kaeding lined his SCI/Kaeding Performance/Maxim up in the third row for the feature on the high banked hooked up Thunderbowl.
As the green flag waved, Kaeding quickly moved into the fifth spot as he chased down fourth running, Logan Forler.
With two early cautions, Bud was able to get passed Forler to move into the fifth spot by the tenth circuit.
The leaders got into traffic after a long green flag run, and Kaeding hounded fourth running Craig Stidham with just five laps remaining.
Kaeding was able to get his Yak Graphics/K&N Performance/Factory Kahne shocks entry into the fourth spot as the race drew to a close.
In the USAC portion of the night, Bud lined up in the third position in what was a very exciting feature event.
The race started off with Dennis Howell, and Troy Rutherford battling for the lead while Bud ran in the third position.
Bud began challenging Howell for the second spot, as the duo raced side by side for the first lap, until Bud took second for him on the second lap.
With a lap three caution, Rutherford and Kaeding took off, as Bud relentlessly stalked the race leader.
Racing through heavy lapped traffic, Kaeding was finally able to get to the lead on the 29th lapped, until contact ensued on the BZE entry popping the left rear tire.
Bud was able to finish in the second spot, capping off a very strong weekend of racing.
“We had a really good weekend, just had a little bit of bad luck tonight,” explained Kaeding. “I would of liked to pick up one win because we had good cars both nights, but we’ll take three top fives, and head on to next weekend.”
Bud Kaeding would like to thank Kaeding Performance, Alviso Rock, BZE, Factory Kahne Shocks, Racing Optics, K&N Filters, Yak Graphics, ButerBuilt, and Brown and Miller for their continued support in 2011.
ON TAP: Bud is now scheduled to compete in the Ocean Speedway season finale on Friday, October 14th before heading to Hanford, CA for the King of the West season finale on Saturday, October 15th.
