September 25th 2021, Mark Herz of Herz Precision Parts along with the Wingless Sprint Series (WSS) are excited to bring back the HPP Cascade Wingless Sprint Series Challenge hosted by the new staff at Southern Oregon Speedway.
In previous years, this event has been an open competition that was run by Southern Oregon Speedway. But with the experience of the WSS staff and the amazing group of local drivers that support the series, it made sense for the group and the track to join forces to continue the highest paid wingless event in Oregon. Herz Precision Parts has graciously been the title sponsor of the event since it’s inception in 2017. Thanks to Mark, the tradition of this event will continue.
With a take home prize of $3500 going to the feature winner and a WSS champion to be crowned, this is guaranteed to be the largest wingless race in the state of Oregon in 2021. The 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic, but the 2019 event saw a great wheel to wheel duel between local driver Jake Wheeler and California’s “Human Highlight Reel” Geoff Ensign. The pair traded slide jobs lap after lap, slicing and dicing through lapped traffic, while putting on one of the cleanest and most competitive wingless shows seen in the state. Ensign is undefeated and the only Cascade Wingless Sprint Challenge champion, winning all 3 events to date. Drivers from Oregon, Washington and California will ascend on the “New” Southern Oregon Speedway clay oval with the hopes of seeing a new Cascade champion crowned in 2021.
