Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 13, 2021) – A busy summer continues as Brian Brown heads to Ohio to tackle a pair of $175,000-to-win Kings Royal events this week.
The sprint car spectacle comes on the heels of Brown making his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut last Friday with Kyle Busch Motorsports at his home track of Knoxville Raceway.
July 9 – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa (NASCAR Truck Series) – Heat race: 3 (3); Feature: 8 (15).
“Going into it my crew chief and I talked and we felt if we could get a top-15 finish that’d be a great night,” Brown said. “I felt like I got shuffled every single double file and got myself a little behind. I charged my way back to where I started. I didn’t listen to my spotter enough. He was yelling ‘inside’ and I kept coming down and there was a guy there and spun out. I lost all my track position. By that point we were halfway through or three quarters through the race. We were two laps down and were able to get those back by racing smart. Without all the wrecks we’d probably be around that top-15 mark. After all the wrecks we ended up eighth.
“I’m thankful for everybody at KBM for giving me that opportunity. The team was professional in every sense of the word. Thanks to Casey’s and Rowdy Energy for their support and to Whisps Snacks and FVP for coming on board also. It was an awesome experience and one I’ll never forget.”
UP NEXT – Wednesday through Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, for the Kings Royal with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series
“It’s really unheard of,” Brown said. “It’s awesome for a track to pay $175,000 to win, but it’s even more unbelievable and exciting that it pays $175,000 to win twice in one week. Eldora has always been known when Earl (Baltes) had it that ‘We’re going to do crazy stuff and be cutting edge.’ Since Tony (Stewart) bought it its been the same thing. I think it will be well received by the fans and will be four days of great racing. After the year we had last year with COVID it’s awesome to see the fans supporting sprint car racing.
“I felt we were really good there in May. We qualified well. We got spun at the beginning of Night 1 and still came back to 10th. The second night we started 10th or 11th and ran it up to sixth. I don’t feel I’m one of the elite cars there, but I feel I’m on the cusp of being in contention.”
