Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (July 13, 2021) – Frank Flud captured a pair of feature victories and a handful of awards on Sunday when Port City Raceway made up the 10th annual Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial as well as a different program that had also been rained out.

Flud was victorious during the Winged ‘A’ Class portion of the Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial and in the Non-Wing division of the regular program to boost his win total to 18 triumphs this year.

“At the end of the day it’s an event about the Crawford family,” he said. “We were fortunate to win what we did and show our speed in the other classes. At the end of the day it’s about representing what Donnie Ray was and Ray Crawford was on and off the track and even after they’ve passed how they continue to inspire the racing community.”

Flud also left the Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial with the Most Respected Driver Award, which was voted on by the racers, for the second straight year. He claimed the Ray Crawford Award for the fastest time in hot laps and the Andy Hillenberg Ironman Challenge for completing the most laps as well.

The lone Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial victory came after he led the distance of the Winged ‘A’ Class main event.

“We had a rain delay so it was pretty one lane, but at the end of the day I was in contention to win all three features,” he said. “We just had misfortune fall our way in the other two classes. In Non-Wing we led 30-something laps and contact with a lapped car resulted in a DNF and then our race also ended early in Outlaw while racing for the lead. With that being said, it’s nice to win, but it means more to see the event is growing each year for the Crawford Family.”

Flud maneuvered from seventh to second place in the Winged ‘A’ Class feature of the regular program and he charged from 10th to win the Non-Wing A Main with a late-race pass.

“I got hung up in traffic too much and we lost by half a car at the line in ‘A’ Class,” he said. “It was a good, hard race. I just ran out of laps.

“In Non-Wing we had a really good race. Right toward the end it was a good race between me, Daison Pursley, Kris Carroll, Austin Lambert and Jake Rosario. We were two, three wide. That was a hell of a race. They had a late-race restart and I got around Carroll for the win.”

Flud plans on returning to Port City Raceway this Saturday.
