Ramey Battles for Podium Before Pair of Incidents at Monett Motor Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – MONETT, Mo. (July 5, 2021) – Gunner Ramey was in contention for a podium last Saturday during an ASCS regional event at Monett Motor Speedway.

The Terry Doogs Racing driver was stout throughout the first half of the night, winning a heat race from fourth to advance into the feature redraw.

“It started out really well,” he said. “I feel like we had the fastest car in the pits all night. We were good in hot laps. We started fourth in the heat race and jumped right to second on the start. I slid the leader in the second corner and got the lead. We made a few laps and had a restart. We maintained the lead to win the heat race by quite a bit.”

The heat race performance made Ramey the high-points driver. He drew the No. 4 during the random redraw to line up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“I was pretty much running in third early,” he said. “I ran down second place a little bit. I got too low in turns one and two. I got in a bunch of loose stuff on the bottom. It had rained a ton so it was kind of choppy down there before it dried out. I spun myself out around Lap 10. It was a mistake on my part. I made a 360 and kept going, but they threw the yellow flag so I had to go to the back.”

Ramey restarted at the rear of the field and made up a few positions before a flat tire ended his night early. He was credited with a 15th-place finish.

Next up will be a local show at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., this Saturday.

“We’re looking for some revenge,” he said. “The speed is there and the car has been really good. I feel like I’ve been decent. I really want to knock off a win and get that first one out of the way. The last time we were there we were really good and finished third.”
