Grizzly Nationals Next For Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series

Bryan Hulbert – BELGRADE, Mont. (July 1, 2021) The season’s lone stop in Montana, the NAPA of Bozeman Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway, is set to go down on Friday, July 9, and Saturday, July 10 Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont.

Last contested in 2019, the weather-shortened event was topped by Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Seven events since 2016, Blake Hahn swept the inaugural weekend, followed by Wayne Johnson in 2017. Making it three Oklahoma drivers in a row, Matt Covington topped preliminary action in 2018 before Canada’s Skylar Gee captured his first career National Tour win the following night.

Closed for the 2020 season due to COVID-19, the Gallatin Speedway finally re-opened with the Brodix ASCS Frontier Region headlining action on June 11, where Kory Wermling from Great Falls, Mont. won his first career ASCS Regional victory. The Brodix ASCS Frontier Region will be taking on the National at the NAPA of Bozeman Grizzly Nationals.

Coming off Skagit Speedway’s Dirt Cup, the chase for the championship has again shifted into the hands of Blake Hahn.

While having victory at the crown jewel event was ripped from his hands by a late-race crash, Hahn returned and captured a top ten finish. Leading by 16 points going into the Grizzly Nationals, Hahn is chased once again by Matt Covington while JJ Hickle, who led the points going into Washington, dropped to third after suffering some bad luck as well during his Dirt Cup run.

Making up ground on the top three, Canada’s Dylan Westbrook sits only 182 points out, with Scott Bogucki holding fifth. Making up a position, Seth Bergman is sixth, with Colby Thornhill, Ryan Bickett, Alex Hill, and Travis Reber making up the top ten in tour standings.

Friday, July 9 and Saturday, July 10, both open at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00 P.M. (MDT). Tickets are $20 per night for adults, with kids 12 and under free into the Grandstands. Pit Gates on Friday open at Noon and remain open through the event. Pit Passes are $30 per night. Friday includes WISSOTA Street Stocks, while Saturday will feature WISSOTA Super Stocks.

It is imperative that Cars at the track are not running before 6:00 P.M. Any team that fails to abide by this is subject to fines or expulsion. This is per the city of Belgrade.

The 2021 season is the 30th year of competition for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
