Driever Improves Throughout First Career ASCS National Tour Starts

Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (June 29, 2021) – The last two weekends were eye-opening for Tyler Driever, who joined the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour for a pair of marquee events in the state of Washington.

It marked the first career races with the series for the 18-year-old and the theme throughout the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma as well as the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway was making progress.

“I didn’t realize how good the competition is with the ASCS National Tour,” he said. “It’s just insane. I’ve never raced that caliber of drivers in my career. It’s like, ‘Wake up. You’re racing some of the best.’

“You can feel the tension that people are there to win. That was proven in some races. People got rowdy. It was a lot different with the aggressiveness, especially on the starts of the heat races. Racing against drivers of that caliber really helps you as a driver.”

Driever improved his heat race and B Main finish during the two-day Fred Brownfield Classic on June 19-20, missing a spot into the main event during the finale by only two positions.

He also stepped forward each night at the Dirt Cup before capping last weekend with a run from ninth to fifth place in a B Main. That also missed transferring into the A Main by just two spots.

“I feel like I definitely improved,” he said. “I’ve struggled at Skagit so getting three days there with the top drivers, I learned quite a bit as a driver.

“I think a lot of it is car placement and timing. Learning slide jobs to get them cleanly down and being aggressive right as the green flag drops are also areas I want to work on.”

Driever will have this weekend off before an ASCS National Tour and ASCS Frontier Region doubleheader hosted by Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., on July 9-10.
