Hartland, Wisconsin (June 29th, 2021) – Bill Balog picked up right where he left off at Angell Park Speedway... in victory lane.
Just a few weeks after collecting his 2nd career All Stars Circuit of Champions win at the co-sanctioned IRA/All Star Circuit of Champions race, the North Pole Nightmare dominated the 1/3-mile clay oval in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, winning the Dash and leading all 30 laps in route to collecting is 4th feature win of 2021. After a few days of rain, the 10X IRA champ claimed his 131st career IRA main victory on a very fast and technical track that saw a surprising amount of passing despite the challenging conditions.
“Sprint car racing is a humbling sport; it can be a roller coaster. After winning a few times & running so well with the All Stars and IRA in Wisconsin a few weeks back we felt like we had things figured out. We hit the road to Ohio Sprint Speed week to race 7 out of 9 days, see some tracks for the first time and we struggled.” said Balog, driver of the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B. “It was great to be back and get a win, see a ton of fans with North Pole Nightmare T-shirts and hats in the stands and have them visit the trailer after a late Sunday night show,” said Balog.
The win was Bill Balog’s fourth feature win of the 2021 season. The North Pole Nightmare currently sits fifth in the All-Star Circuit of Champions series point standings.
During a rare three-week break from the demanding 2021 All Star Circuit of Champions schedule, Bill Balog and the B Squared Motorsports team look to continue their Wisconsin winning streak with the Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Sprints at the Sheboygan County Fair Park on Thursday, July 1st. The special event is a partnership between the IRA and the Nascar Cup Series Road America 250 presented by Kwik Trip. The event, just five miles away from Road America, will feature some of the best sprint car teams in the Midwest and NASCAR Cup series stars. Chase Briscoe, the Stewart / Haas #14 NASCAR Cup Series Ford driver, has already added his name to the entry list, and more drivers are expected to round out the list as the event draws closer. In recent years NASCAR Cup stars Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, and Kyle Larson have all revisited their sprint car roots and raced their way to IRA Sprint Car Victory Lane, with Stewart and Larson both notching wins at Plymouth.
