13 Wingless sprints made their way to Cottage Grove Speedway for the fourth race of the season. The warm day started with Rob Lindsey winning the Walker Racing Development fast time award with a 13.139, but the top 6 cars were separated by only 15 one-hundredths of a second.
Rob Lindsey’s good fortune would continue as he picked up the BR Motorsports/King Racing Products heat race win, locking him into the redraw. Kinzer Cox was able to jump out in front early in the Competition Suspension Inc heat race number two, also ensuring a spot in the redraw.
Lance Halmark, the nights 2nd fast qualifier, used a good starting position in the redraw to hold off challenges from Tim Alberding. Rob Lindsey would finish third, Kinzer Cox was fourth, followed by Pat Desbiens, Chad Lindsey and Mitch Hoffses.
All 13 cars would see the drop of the green flag, but it was Hallmark and Alberding drag racing down the front stretch that would set the tempo for the evening. Alberding was able to use the high side momentum to take the top spot. Despite several challenges from Kinzer Cox, lapped traffic and a few cautions, Alberding was able to seal his second victory of the 2021 season, both coming at Cottage Grove Speedway.
Cox would finish second with Chad Lindsey filling out the podium. Then it was Lance Hallmark, SpeedMart Inc’s Hard Charger Jonathan Jorgenson from his 13th starting position, Rob Lindsey, Daysen Thomas, Brent Rich, Nate Schank, Mitch Hoffses, Tim Kennedy, Gene Cannon and Pat Desbiens rounded out the field.
WSS is heading to Sunset Speedway to take on the Banks Bullring for the first round of action in the Van Raden Industries mini series. Racing starts at 6:30pm and with temperatures promising to soar, we want to remind everyone to drink lots fluids and stay hydrated.
