Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (June 22, 2021) – Derek Hagar rebounded from an early incident to capture a top-10 finish last Saturday during the Greg Hodnett Memorial at Riverside International Speedway.

Hagar opened the night by advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race.

“We passed a couple of cars on the start, but I stayed on the bottom too long and let a guy get by me,” he said. “If we had held on to fourth I think we would have been on the verge of the top eight, which made the dash.”

Hagar lined up on the inside of the seventh row for the main event.

“We passed some cars and got into the top 10 pretty quick,” he said. “A car spun in front of me and we got hooked together in the first few laps. I think we ended up restarting 21st and had to come back up.”

Hagar did just that, rallying from the back of the pack to garner a sixth-place result.

“I was pleased,” he said. “The track was around the top and you had to slide people to get by them. We took what we got. That crash the first couple of laps ripped the right sideboard back. I was trying to maintain and dodge wrecks. We salvaged a good finish.”

Hagar will take this weekend off before returning to action for a USCS Series tripleheader July 2 at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark.; July 3 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.; and July 4 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.
