Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (June 21, 2021) – Robbie Price drove his family owned No. 21p to a weekend-best ninth-place finish during the opening round of the Fred Brownfield Classic on Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway.

He capped the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader by rallying for a 12th-place showing after being involved in an opening-lap incident on Sunday.

“It wasn’t a bad weekend, but it wasn’t really great either,” he said. “We got it in the show both nights, but really that was about as good as it gets in terms of results.”

Price kicked off Saturday’s opener by winning a heat race from the pole position. He lined up on the inside of the fifth row for the feature and on a track that proved tough to pass on, Price finished where he started. The top-10 outing was his fifth of the 2021 race season.

“The format kind of killed us as we won our heat, but the best we could start was ninth,” he said. “I kind of stayed on the bottom too long and that probably hurt us, but overall, we just were not that good.”

Price returned to the track on Sunday for the event finale, which he kicked off by finishing where he started – second – in a heat race. He then lined up 12th for the feature, but got caught up in an accident in the first turn. The team made repairs to his car before he joined the field. Price was able to come back to finish where he started for his ninth top-15 finish of the season.

“I got caught up in a six-car wreck in the very first corner and we went in and changed the nose wing,” he said. “After that we just kind of rode around in the rubber and tried to stay out of trouble. We got back to 12th, but that’s pretty much how our year has gone up to this point in finding bad luck.”

Next up for Price will be a return to Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., this Thursday through Saturday for the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup sanctioned by the ASCS National Tour.

Price became the youngest winner in the history of the event in 2019 and with last year’s event getting cancelled due to COVID-19, Price is entering one of 360ci winged sprint car racing’s crown jewels as the defending champion.

“It has not been a very good year for us by any means, but I have high expectations any time I go to Skagit,” he said. “I’ve got thousands of laps at that place and I know it like the back of my hand. I expect to run up front and contend. Honestly, I’m not going to be happy with anything less than that. I’m coming in hoping to go back to back.”
