Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (June 8, 2021) – Frank Flud is eyeing a big payday this weekend when he travels to Indiana for the Big Dance.

Flud is the defending champion of the non-wing outlaw micro sprint spectacle running this Thursday through Saturday at U.S. 24 Speedway in Logansport, where the winner of the prestigious event takes home $10,000.

“You want to defend your title, but if you start looking at things like defending titles you get lax about things,” he said. “I try to look at it like I’ve never won it and I need to win it. Nobody has won it in 2021 so I need to be that guy.”

Flud finished second among more than 75 drivers during the preliminary night of the event last year. He then advanced from fourth to win the finale.

“It’s just keeping your nose clean and putting yourself in the right position,” he said. “It’s about making good decisions throughout the week to be there at the end. Hopefully you can lock in early so you don’t have to work as hard throughout the weekend. If you can’t you have to focus on putting yourself in the right position.”

Flud is hungry for a successful weekend as the first half of the 2021 season hasn’t met his expectations.

“Honestly, this is probably the lowest confidence-wise I’ve been midway through a season and the lowest number of wins and finishes I’ve had midway through the season in probably eight years,” he said. “As weird as that sounds, for my normal results and my standards, it’s my worst year in eight years.

“With the development program we’ve been trying some new things. We’ve been searching this year as to what might work better for a wide program rather than a dialed in for me program. I’m not going to be a young racer for the rest of my life. This year is how can we set the development program up further down the road.”

Flud enters this weekend with a dozen feature victories and 36 top 10s, including runs of seventh and fifth, respectively, during an event at U.S. 24 Speedway last month.
