Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (June 7, 2021) – Trey Starks recorded his fourth top-10 finish in four sprint car races this season when he made his season debut at Grays Harbor Raceway last Saturday.
“It tried to rain on and off all day,” he said. “We got a late start and ended up scrapping time trials so we went straight into heat races. The track was super fast. We were three tenths of a second under the 360 track record and one tenth off the 410 track record. We led the whole heat race.”
Starks won his heat race after lining up on the outside of the front row.
“They did an inversion of six sot that put us starting sixth in the feature,” he said. “We got to third on the start and then we took the lead about Lap 12. Shortly after taking the lead we blew up. We had put our spare motor in to keep laps off our good motor going into the Fred Brownfield Classic and Dirt Cup. We hadn’t run it in a while. We’re going to dig through it this week to see how bad it is.
“It’s like how every weekend has gone this year. I’ve been really, really happy with our speed. We just haven’t had stuff go our way. Hopefully we get all of this stuff out of the way before the bigger races coming up.”
Starks, who was credited with an eighth-place result, plans to be idle this weekend before tackling the Fred Brownfield Classic on June 19-20 at Grays Harbor Raceway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
