Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (June 3, 2021) – Gunner Ramey raced on back-to-back nights with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour during Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Ozark Speedway, where he closed the inaugural Sprint and Midget Memorial Nationals presented by The Drivers Project with a solid charge forward.

Ramey put together a qualifying lap of 12.542 seconds to post the 12th fastest time of the 45 drivers who qualified during Saturday’s opener. He finished second in his heat race to make the night’s dash. Fortune was on the Terry Doogs Racing driver’s side as he drew the No. 1. He maintained that position to earn the pole for the main event.

“We were super fast all night,” he said.

Ramey led several laps and spent the majority of the feature in the top five. With less than 10 laps remaining, the wing mount atop the car broke and Ramey was forced to pull off the track, relegating him to a DNF and 20th-place finish.

“We weren’t going to win, but we were going to finish inside the top five for sure,” he said. “It was a heartbreaker, but everyone knew we were there. We had the speed to contend.”

On Sunday, Ramey timed in 17th quickest and finished sixth in his heat race to narrowly miss locking into the main event. That put him on the pole for the B Main. Ramey maintained the view at the front of the field to garner the win to transfer through to the $10,000-to-win main event. Ramey then hustled from 21st to 12th on the challenging track.

“Overall, even though we had an unfortunate DNF on Saturday, I’m really happy with the speed we showed,” he said. “It was a stout field both nights and to have the kind of speed we did does a lot for my confidence as a driver.”

Next on the calendar for Ramey is an ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Warrior Region race this Saturday at Legit Speedway Park in West Plains, Mo.

“I’m really confident we can go and contend for a win there, a top five at the minimum,” he said.

Ramey has made one career start at Legit Speedway Park, where he finished 11th last season.
