Bryan Hulbert – ELDON, Mo. (June 2, 2021) Rebounding over the past three outings, Dylan Westbrook continues to make moves as the driver of the Hills Racing Team No. 47x extended his podium run to three straight following a place and show finish this past weekend with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at Lake Ozark Speedway.
“The weekend was simple. Keep it upright,” chuckled Dylan when asked about his overall thoughts. “The weekend was exactly what our team needed, right.”
Runner-up on Saturday night to Scott Bogucki, the track presented some challenges as the surface became rough and choppy throughout the feature.
“I felt like I had the speed to race with Scott; I just didn’t want to tear up the car doing it. I knew we were good, and if I had the opportunity, I’d take it.”
Rolling out ninth on Sunday, the tone of the feature was very much survival. Several attempts at getting the race going, Westbrook stuck low around the Lake Ozark Speedway. Picking off one car at a time, the final laps saw Dylan battling hard with Ayrton Gennetten. Forcing Dylan’s elbows up a little more, Westbrook was able to get back around the No. 3.
“I just knew I needed to stay off the top. That’s where everyone was running into trouble and flipping, so we just worked the middle and bottom. Even then, we were still able to get by people, and last third of the race, I had Gennetten to contend with, and he did get by at one point, so that got me going a little harder, but I was still pretty cautious. With everything coming up, I knew this could be a big weekend for our team in the overall picture, and it was.”
Looking forward to this weekend, the team will test at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, June 5. With a chance to test at Skagit Speedway as well, the Hills Racing Team will leave from Iowa and head to Washington to compete in the track’s weekly show on Saturday, June 12.
Dylan Westbrook is a part of the Canadian-based Hills Racing Team. The 2021 season marks the 17th year of racing for Dylan Westbrook. Starting with Dirt Bikes and Go-Karts at age five, Dylan has been behind the wheel of a Sprint Car for seven years. Four championships as Ohsweken Speedway since 2015, Westbrook made the jump to the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in 2020, earning the Brodix National Rookie of the Year.
