Inside Line Promotions – ORANGEVILLE, Pa. (June 1, 2021) – Joey Amantea aimed to race three times last week, but Mother Nature had other plans and Amantea settled for one night of wingless micro sprint competition at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks.

Unfortunately, the night ended in frustration as he endured a DNF on Saturday.

“We had a lot of racing planned and it just seemed that Mother Nature didn’t want us to follow through with our plans,” he said. “We were hoping to learn some stuff about our outlaw kart at Greenwood, but it seemed we now have more questions than anything and it was just a tough weekend.”

Amantea made his first visit of the season to the facility, where he kicked off the Racers Tribute Memorial by overcoming a wreck on Lap 2 to finish fourth in a heat race. He lined up 12th in the feature event and got tangled up in an accident on the opening circuit. Amantea rejoined the field, but was once again involved in an accident two laps later. He sustained front end damage that ended his night early.

“We had high expectations getting out to Greenwood and all we really did was break equipment,” he said. “It’s tough when you only get a few laps in and don’t have much to show for it. It just wasn’t our night for sure.”

Next up for Amantea will be a wingless micro sprint start at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., on Wednesday followed by Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars races at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on Friday and at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., on Saturday.

Amantea enters the weekend 10th in the championship standings, but he only trails fifth by 31 points. These will be his first career starts at both facilities and he is looking forward to the opportunity to compete at two of Central Pennsylvania’s most prestigious and famous race tracks.

“We’ve gotten rained out twice now trying to get to Williams Grove, so I’m hopeful that I can finally get to experience everything that the track represents in terms of history,” he said. “Lincoln is a one off for our schedule and it seems like a track I can maybe make a little noise at and run well at. I’m really looking forward to getting out there and just being a part of the Central Pennsylvania sprint car scene and hopefully leaving our mark on it.”
