Inside Line Promotions – WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (June 1, 2021) – Greg Wilson enjoyed one of his most consistent weekends of the season despite Mother Nature wiping out half of it.

Wilson and his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed team sandwiched a pair of rainy nights between a ninth-place outing last Thursday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, and a runner-up result on Sunday at Waynesfield Raceway Park.

The action began at Atomic Speedway with Wilson qualifying 12th quickest. He rallied in his heat race to advance from sixth to third place, which gave him the 12th starting spot for the main event.

“We had a decent night,” he said. “We didn’t time in good, which was frustrating. We had a little luck in the heat and we were fairly competitive the rest of the night. We ended up ninth in the feature. I felt we were anywhere from a fifth to a 10th or 11th-place car and we ended up in the middle so I was okay with that. There were some pretty good cars there. ”

Wilson’s ninth-place finish was his 14th top 10 of the season.

Wet weather kept Wilson home for the ensuing two nights before he was able to join the NRA Sprint Invaders at Waynesfield Raceway Park on Sunday. Wilson qualified 16th quickest. A heat race win earned a spot into the dash. Wilson placed second in the dash to garner the outside front row starting spot for the $12,000-to-win main event.

“We led off the outside pole and led a good portion of it, probably about half of the race,” he said. “We were too tight when the track changed and it bit us. Brady Bacon was so much more maneuverable than us. Early in the race we were really good before it got traction. We were as good or better than he was, but the key is to be better at the end of the race.”

Wilson ended second for his eighth top five of the year.

Wilson plans on racing with the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions this Thursday at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill.; Friday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis.; Saturday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.; and Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis.

“I’m excited because I like all four places, but I’m skeptical because I was hoping to have a new car done for this week,” he said. “I won’t be able to pin myself to the wall with time and then run the risk of not having it the way I wanted it. So we’ll run the other car one more weekend. I feel we’re not putting our best foot forward with it, but on a side note putting the 360 in on Sunday did help. When you’re on a level playing field the car didn’t seem so bad. We’ll work on some stuff and hopefully have a decent weekend.”

Wilson also has a Hercules Tires dealership visit this Saturday at Quality Tire Service in Johnsburg, Ill., from 10 a.m. to noon.
