Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (June 1, 2021) – Garet Williamson capped the inaugural Sprint and Midget Nationals presented by The Drivers Project by charging from 19th to eighth on Sunday night during the finale at Lake Ozark Speedway.

It marked the second top 10 of the weekend for the Bryant Paver Motorsports driver, who rebounded from an early miscue on Saturday to hustle from the back of the field to a 10th-place result.

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event began on Saturday with Williamson qualifying 13th quickest out of the 46 drivers. He then won a heat race before placing third in a dash to garner the third starting spot in the A Main.

“I think we were the fastest car there and had a car to win, but we got in there and hooked a rut I think on Lap 3,” he said. “We got in the air, came down and spun out. We had to go to the back. If we had some cautions I think we were still a top-five car. We were super good. It was frustrating to get sucked in by the track, but it is what it is.”

Williamson overcame the spin, racing from the rear of the field into the top 10 before the checkered flag was waved.

“If you could be patient or if you weren’t too scared to run through the ruts it wasn’t bad,” he said. “If you had some space in front of you you could make it work. We were more patient than a lot of cars and ran where they weren’t so that played into our hands.”

Passing cars was also the theme on Sunday night after Williamson qualified 26th quickest. He advanced a position in a heat race to place fifth, locking himself into the 19th starting position in the main event.

“We qualified bad,” he said. “I figured it’d be faster to go above the hole, but I should have went through it. We passed a car in the heat race to lock into the main event. We had four straight reds and they cut the race down before we made it a lap. Once we got racing I went to the top and it was so dirty. It took five to eight laps to get it cleaned off. Then we got it rolling and moved through the field. We came back and looked at the lap times and almost every time we were the fastest on the track.”

Williamson methodically maneuvered through the field and had a strong race car at the finish as he placed eighth for his eighth top 10 of the season. It was his best ASCS National Tour run of the season.

Williamson plans on making his FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions debut this weekend by tackling four races – Thursday at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill.; Friday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis.; Saturday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.; and Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. It will be his debut at each track.

“We want to get some nights in and get rolling in the 410,” he said. “It’s a good opportunity that’s not super far from home. It’s always fun to get back in the 410.”
