West Haven, VT- Matt Tanner of Stephentown, NY showed up at Devil's Bowl Speedway just a little late and had to pit out in the parking lot. But that did not stop him from winning the JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England first race of the 2021 season.
With the Sunday rains the event was postponed until Memorial Day Monday. The holiday event may have hurt our car count by a little, and the track still had a good crowd on hand. Tanner was fast doing everything but getting there. Fastest in hot laps, won his heat race from a third starting spot and won the 25 lap feature from starting fifth. Will Hull was second and Matt Hoyt was third.
Local favorite Lacey Hanson started the 25 lap event on the pole and battled Hoyt for the lead until she spun in turns 3 and 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Hoyt and Chris Donnelly would race each other for the top spot with Donnelly coming out the leader until he broke a few laps later in the backstretch bringing out the yellow. The battle know was Hoyt, Tanner and Hull up front swapping positions until Tanner got out front and ran the top. Hoyt and Hull swapped second with Hull picking up second at the finish, and Hoyt third, Adam Pierson and Floyd Billington rounding out the top five.
Heat race winners were , Matt Tanner winning FK Rod Ends Heat Race #1 , Adam Pierson winning O'Reilly Auto Parts Heat Race #2. Matt Tanner also picked up the Venture Wipes Feature Race Winner Award, and the CMD Logging Hard Charger
