PETERSEN MEDIA- In what ended up being a caution-shortened main event, Miranda Arnold came from the B-main Friday night at I80 Speedway and was scored in the 18th position after the race was called.
After coming from the semi, Arnold lined up 23rd in what would end up being a 17-lap main event.
The drizzly night in Nebraska set up what was a very fast race track that stayed in very good shape all night long.
When the A got underway, Arnold began feeling out her Arnold Motorsports/Mid-Mo Auto Sales/Impact Signs, Awnings, & Wraps backed entry as she slowly began working towards the top fifteen.
With the track being so fast, passing was at a premium, but Arnold continued to click off smooth laps as she was able to work up to the 18th position after a few early cautions.
On the 17th lap the red flew for Justin Henderson, who got upside down, but on the restart Taylor Velasquez took a nasty tumble, which sent him to the hospital and ultimately ended the race.
All of us at Arnold Motorsports send our thoughts and prayers to the Velasquez family and wish Taylor a very speedway recovery.
The night got off to a rocky start for Miranda as she lost her brakes in the heat race, and ultimately sent her to the B main.
With the top four transferring out of the B, Miranda was able to score a third place finish, transferring her into the feature.
"Tonight was just an eerie night, especially with that last red," said Arnold. "In the scheme of things it was a good night for us, but our thoughts are with the Velasquez family, and Taylor. It's always tough to see a competitor go out like that."
