Charleston on Friday and Saturday Night is the Next Stop for POWRi National Midgets, Micros, and WAR

Belleville, IL. (05/18/2021) For the Second time in league history, the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midgets will take center stage at Charleston Speedway in Charleston, IL. this Friday and Saturday night, May 21st and May 22nd. Alongside the POWRi National Midgets and WAR Sprint League will be the Lucas Oil POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint League presented by Engler Machine & Tool making their first ever appearance at the historic Charleston Speedway.

Fresh off rainouts in the past few weeks, drivers and teams are anxiously awaiting to get back on the track and keep their momentum rolling. In the one previous appearance at Charleston Speedway, Michael “Buddy” Kofoid broke into victory lane for the POWRi National Midgets. Kofoid of Penngrove, CA. was followed to the checkered flag by Jake Nauman, and Noah Gass.

With seven races completed in 2021, the reigning 2020 champion, Jake Neuman of New Berlin, IL. remains the dominant force in the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League. With one win on the season under his belt, he pulled ahead into command of the point standings over second place runner, Daison Pursley, Emerson Axsom in third, and Cannon McIntosh in fourth.

In six highly contested races complete so far in 2021 within POWRi WAR, it has been the Wesley Smith show claiming half the feature wins on the season moving his career win-total to seven feature WAR victories. Gaining wins at Lake Ozark Speedway to start the season in the Non-Wing Nationals, at Lucas Oil Speedway’s Open Wheel Showdown, and again at I-70 Motorsports Park Grand Re-Opening; Smith has shown the speed needed to succeed this season when the lights shine brightest. Will Wesley continue his winning ways, or will another driver claim the honors at Charleston over the weekend?

This coming Friday and Saturday will be the first time the Lucas Oil POWRi Outlaw Micro Sprint League presented by Engler Machine & Tool will experience the 3/8 mile semi banked dirt oval. Daison Pursley, who will be pulling double duty for the weekend, is currently tied with Joe B Miller for first on the points standings. Behind them sits the young Jade Avedisian in third, Bradley Fezard in fourth, and Frank Galusha in fifth.
