CG Motorsports. (May 11th, 2021) Rolling into I-96 Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network and Great Lakes Super Sprints, Matt Covington parked the Loose Change/Shark Racing Engines No. 95 in Victory Lane.

Covington started the night off with a heat race win from the fourth position. The result would net a re-draw that gave Matt the pole position for the feature.

With the drop of the green, Matt would pace the field from the start and jump out to an early lead. Blake Hahn would make it interesting in lap traffic on a couple occasions, but when the checkers flew the A-Rock Materials/Triple X chassis would lead start to finish and claim its first national tour victory of the season.

When you start out front in these national tour races, you need to capitalize the best you can”, stated Matt. “We been fast and consistent all year. My buddy Vern has really helped me with the setups and it’s been showing. I felt pressured a few times there in traffic. I knew Blake was behind me and getting close, and I wasn’t sure because the bottom looked like it was coming in down in three and four, but the top was good too, but I wanted that one. I wanted it really bad, especially for my crew guy, Matthew Howard, he’s been working his butt off, and we’ve been top-five and running up front, but he hadn’t had that taste of victory, so I had to get that for him. I need to thank all the sponsors and people that help out on this program and keep us out here on the road. Hopefully for them and my team we can carry this momentum into the next stretch of racing.”

Covington has an ASCS National Tour race at Volunteer Speedway in Tennessee on schedule this weekend.
